Good Passage Privacy Policy

Good Passage ("Good Passage," "we," "our," or "us") is a simple daily Scripture passage display app from Syllabi LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses and how that information is handled.

Good Passage does not require an account. It is designed to show bundled Scripture passages with approved artwork, let you share the current passage, and optionally open Steadfast: Faith for reflection or Scripture saving.

1. Information We Collect

Local app preferences

Good Passage stores a small amount of app state on your device, including the daily passage selection, artwork selection, selected type style, whether the first-run guide has been dismissed, whether the Steadfast prompt has been shown, and related display preferences.

This information stays on your device. We do not receive a copy of these local preferences.

Cached artwork

Good Passage displays approved artwork from Unsplash and caches display-sized image files on your device to improve performance and reduce repeated network loading. Cached artwork remains on your device and may be removed by the app cache, iOS, or by uninstalling the app.

Widget data

If you use the Good Passage iOS Home Screen widget, the app writes the currently selected passage, artwork metadata, selected type style, and a local widget image file into the app's shared App Group container so the widget can display the same selection as the app.

This widget data stays on your device.

Shared content you create

If you use the Share action, Good Passage may create a temporary image of the current passage display and pass it to the iOS share sheet. What happens next depends on the destination you choose in the share sheet.

Good Passage does not receive or store the messages, posts, files, or other content you send through the iOS share sheet.

Steadfast: Faith handoff

If you choose Reflect or Save, Good Passage opens Steadfast: Faith with the current passage reference and passage text. If Steadfast is not installed, Good Passage may open the App Store page for Steadfast.

Good Passage does not store reflections or saved Scripture inside Good Passage. Those actions are handled by Steadfast: Faith.

Device and diagnostic information

Good Passage does not include third-party advertising or general analytics SDKs. Apple may provide limited crash or diagnostic information through standard App Store and developer tools if you install a distributed build and diagnostics are available. That information, when present, is used only to improve reliability.

2. How We Use Information

We use local app data to:

  • show the daily passage and artwork selection
  • remember your selected type style
  • avoid showing first-run prompts repeatedly
  • keep the Home Screen widget aligned with the current app selection
  • create shareable passage artwork when you choose Share
  • open Steadfast: Faith with the selected passage when you choose Reflect or Save

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your passage selections for advertising.

3. Unsplash Artwork

Good Passage uses an approved allowlist of Unsplash images. When the app displays Unsplash artwork, your device requests the image from Unsplash's image delivery service. Those requests are governed by Unsplash's own terms and privacy practices.

Good Passage includes attribution for Unsplash photos and links back to the photographer and Unsplash where available.

Good Passage may also be configured to call a Syllabi server endpoint to record an Unsplash download event for the displayed photo, as required by Unsplash API guidelines for certain image uses. If enabled, this request uses the Unsplash photo identifier and does not include your name, email address, account information, or passage text.

4. No Account and No Good Passage Cloud Sync

Good Passage does not require a Good Passage account.

Good Passage does not provide its own cloud sync. Local preferences, cache files, and widget data remain on your device unless you choose to share content or open another app.

5. Third-Party Services

Good Passage may interact with:

  • Apple, for App Store distribution, crash reports, diagnostics, app installation, widgets, and the iOS share sheet
  • Unsplash, for approved artwork image delivery and photo attribution links
  • Steadfast: Faith, when you choose Reflect or Save
  • Syllabi support systems, if you contact us for help by email

Good Passage does not include third-party advertising SDKs.

6. Data Retention

Local preferences remain on your device until you uninstall the app or remove app data.

Cached artwork and temporary share images may be removed by the app, by iOS, or by uninstalling the app.

Widget data remains in the app's shared container until replaced, removed by the app, or removed when app data is deleted.

If you contact us for support, we retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to help you and maintain ordinary business records.

7. Your Choices

You can:

  • change the current passage, artwork, and type style in the app
  • choose whether to use Share, Reflect, or Save
  • uninstall Good Passage to remove local app data from your device
  • contact us for support or privacy questions

Because Good Passage does not sync its own app data to Syllabi servers, deleting the app removes local Good Passage data that we would otherwise have no copy of.

8. Children's Privacy

Good Passage is not specifically directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. International Users

Good Passage stores app preferences locally on your device. If you contact us for support, your message may be processed where our support systems operate.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If material changes are made, we may update the effective date above or provide additional notice where appropriate.
